This then was focused more specifically into the uses of the building directly around the site identifying possible users and interaction with the site.
This diagram was to represent the urban environment surrounding the site (Howard smith wharves). From this analysis it allowed to gain an understanding of what element and immediate surrounding the site, and how the site is already used in its previous function and what may be required to improve the function and appeal, to draw people to utilizing the space.
During my research I come across culturally important/ heritage listed elements within the urban landscape that in many way have a large impact on how users and visitors interact with the site and how the places are portrayed.
The diagram below shows the green zones (haven't put the one on the cliffs in), and public spaces around the site while it also shows individual protected trees around the immediate area. Think diagram could have more information in it looks very plain and unfinished.
Within the site the two major dominating influences that the site is known for is the story bridge and the wharves, provide a good question how would you advertise this new site, maybe use the existing elements that people know for association to the site but how would u break it away from this at the same time so it becomes know for itself without being referred to as a secondary element.
_____________________________________________________________________Environmental analysis,
From the Urban analysis I then looked at the environment and how the city is transformed around this natural topography. This Diagram also helps show how and where other location are on the same level , this gives opportunity to look at the uses of these spaces on different level and see if there similar or different.
topography lines at every 5 meter
More detailed view of the sites surrounding topography putting the context of the site in proportion with how the context actually looks.
Diagram of the built, manipulated areas over the natural topography to give the building relevance to how they would interact and the site would be viewed/ seen.
The other diagram i havent got to yet is a site section breaking down the site into built, manipulated and natural element, to find how the site may have changed and in what way, this diagram could also show connections to how and why I interacte with the site the way i do.
Hi Alan,
ReplyDeleteYou did a very good job with the diagrams! I can see a lot of findings and thoughts in them. We should talk about your new thoughts in the next tutorial.
